Chinese New Year And Mnemonic Device

Gogo and my IMs read like those text message commercials with James Earl Jones and Malcolm McDowell.
“Have you been to Fameshed?”

“No. Not yet. I dunno if I am gonna go.”

“Me too, but I wanna go out. We should go.”

“I dunno. I’m tired. But I might go. Or I might go somewhere else.”

“I wanna go somewhere. Maybe.”

And on and on like that. Sometimes we’ll have entire conversations on how tired we are of the trend of everything being brown. (Look around, it’s a thing. Suddenly everything is dark and brown at some events.)

Anyway, in the course of this conversation, the event CHINESE NEW YEAR came up. We both agreed that the Chinese boxes of awesome made by LARK were must have, and so even though she was dithering about going out I headed over there.  The original landmark seemed to have landed me in a pit. From the sky, where I ended up, it seemed like there was a tunnel leading to the event, or a walkway or something, but where I LANDED it was some sort of poofing rendering hell where not only could I not see, I was disoriented and unhappy. Plus, there was no shopping there.

Event builders, we get it, you like you to show of your skills. Seriously, don’t make us walk through shit in an event full of lag. Don’t POOF things for gods sake. I don’t know what it was supposed to be, something coming off the water, if it WAS water. I couldn’t tell. I also didn’t stay – it was shopping I was at.

I loved the APPLE FALL buffet/chest and wall art so much, and the boxes from Lark (seen above on the buffet bcse I just got home when I snapped this) that I went out and bought a new dining set from Mudhoney – the RYAN set. It had a sleeker look I wanted to coordinate with my new Asian dining room.

Now I say ASIAN because I’m eclectic and a traveler of many parts of the Second Asian world. I’ve been to Japan, Thailand, and various other places. I’ve picked up nicknacks and brickabrack and various decor items and I like to mish mash them all together, to remind me of my travels.

However, I know the difference.

Some of you, seem not to. I’m kind of, grimacing when I see people wearing kimonos going “I went to Chinese New Year.” Hey – do you know where they wear kimonos? JAPAN.

Not China.

I am eating steamed buns. I’ve had them served to me at Chinese New Year events in RL. In my SL these are labeled as sushi. Hmmmm. I don’t know why.

In SL many things get confused.

But let me help you with this traditional costume thing – because I think you want to do the right thing – you’re just confused.

CHEONGSAM. CH – CH – CH – CHINA. CH – CH – CHEONGSAM.

Kimono doesn’t make the CH sound. If you are going to celebrate a culture, celebrate it close to correctly, or at least know that you’re doing it wrong. Ok?
