Falling In Love Again…With Fashion Week

sept30_004

It’s AVENUE Fall/Winter Fashion Week and the event kicked off with 3 shows yesterday and will continue all week. Check out the calendar here. The fabulous Kungler sisters had their show yesterday. There are some big surprises for long time fans, such as this ultra=metropolitan dress in cream with metal accents. Its shape seems loosely inspired by medieval court jesters with the turned up collar post-modern jester’s collar and the pleated and banded sleeves that are a modern, urbanist reinterpretation of the medieval jester’s sleeves. There’s nothing medieval about this dress, though. It’s as modern as can be.

I added the over-the-knee boots that are still available at Collabor88 for a few days before their release at ISON. I love the buckle above the back of the knee and like how the strap width is similar to the width of the metal straps on the sleeve. These boots come in several colors, each as tasty as this fresh cream.

Saturday Morning Photobomb Cat

I was ecstatic to the point of ridiculous that Mudhoney released MUMS for Fifty Linden Friday yesterday. If you aren’t from the US – mums are the official herald of fall.  I’ve started my fall decorating, adding the rocker just released from What Next and now the mums. YAY for fall decorating!

My cat, my FIRST cat, Snake Plisskin is so glad to be out of the his Inventory Kennel. He follows me around everywhere and would not let me take a photo without him. He’s a very spoiled pretend cat.

I have such a hectic schedule today though, I have to grab a cup and RUN because both lives are completely booked full. Continue reading

Wake Me Up When September Ends

sep26_004

I will be happy to see the end of this September. It has been an eventful month, one that seems to be unbalanced by a shortage of good news. It made me think of this Green Day song that suits my mood.

I am a firm believer, though, in the power of dressing to cheer yourself up and this tunic from LouLou&Co for Marquis Market is definitely a cheer yourself up fabric.

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

I accept the fact that I’m more than a bit of a Second Life PRUDE. That’s ok. It’s my Second Life and I can be who I want. I respect the fact that you too can be whatever you want. But, I think that when our fantasy existences cross one another, a certain amount of decorum, and well – manners, should be expected.

Case in point.

I got dressed – as pictured, and ventured out because a good friend had new releases that were not to be missed. I actually had several stops on my shopping list, but this first one was a much anticipated release -a must have. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: September 26th

Fast FiveIt’s been some time since my last Fast Five. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. Not that I have so much more to do, but the same work feels like more when I am not feeling my best. However, I have antibiotics now and should soon be firing on all cylinders again.

  • Today – Sydd Sinister’s Today post is from September 11th, which goes to show how far behind I am. Normally I would not pull up a post from so long ago, but this is just too good to miss. The styling is so perfect I thought all the pieces were from one outfit, but no! She pulled them together. It’s a stunner and kind of awe-inspiring.
  • Second Life’s Strange Second Life – The Verge has an article featuring Second Life that is not totally condescending, horrible and probably will not make you want to throw bricks at their office building. For example, the author writes “There’s no such thing as an average Second Lifer…” True and rarely seen in non-SL media.  Continue reading

Feeling sexy ;)

Hello, lovelies 🙂
I hope everyone is doing good.

s t a r s

Yesterday i finally found some time to spend on SL, so i went shopping and, after falling in love for the gorgeous corset from Baiastice, i decided to combinate it with other great stuff to style a totally new look.
Now now, i’ve never been a thigh high boots person, so i tried the Bax Regency Boots on just for fun, i thought they could go well with the corset and the look i had in mind.
And – OMG – i loved them the exact moment i wore the demo on. They’re just perfect.

Adore me ;)

So sexy *_*

Oh, that Randy Jackson

Val Mesh Leggings

When Angie Mornington plurked this picture with the comment, “Oooh Randy Jackson Victory Tour pants! I might get these.” I thought for sure I would get them, if I could get the mental image of Randy Jackson wearing them out of my head. Really, I had never noticed that Randy Jackson was into clothes that much. Mainly he was into saying, “That’s pitchy, Dawg” Whatever, the mental image of him in these pants was not a good one. Turns out she meant a different Randy Jackson.

King of Pop Michael Jackson dies at 50

Now that makes sense.

In Other News There Are Flowers In MY ATTIC

My Attic this month is full of beautiful floral themes and variations of the theme FLOWERS IN MY ATTIC.  Lacuna has released a gorgeous set of shorts and tops that say adieu to summer in the most beautiful way.

And let’s face it, we can have summer whenever we want in SL so we can wear them all winter if we like. I love the wallpaper inspired shorts, I want these in RL.

I’m also sporting one of my poses from PRETENSE for the event, called Flowers for You – this is a single pose. The pack comes with one friend pose, with a bouquet, and a single daisy and you can mix & match it all up for however you like.  Continue reading

So THATS The Problem

I solved a personal mystery this morning, and thought I would share. For months I’ve seen posts on blogs with this bizarre look, the ratios seem off, as though the photos were being shot with some weird distance set to make the avatar look enlongated. Some of you guys look like you have these weird skinny heads with long thin bodies.

I love you, but you do.

I haven’t been able to figure out why you’d choose that – as it’s not being used in an artsy setting, and it’s a bit hard on the eyes – it looks OFF is my first thought.

I shoot at 3999 X whatever it is that constrains proportions to make sure that the images I’m sharing aren’t distorted.  My machine doesn’t handle shooting over 3999 very well, and because of the old black line bug I got in the habit of stopping there. It works ok for me.

Over the weekend, I was in a hurry and snapped pics at the home tour, and realized for expediency, I could just upload them to Flickr directly. Looking back at those photos, I felt like something was off but couldn’t put my finger on it.

This morning, I decided to shoot some Gidge shots to go with it, and was super pressed for time – so I shot directly to Flickr. It does constrain the image to a smaller resolution than I like but I didn’t consider this a deal breaker. I used to nearly EXCLUSIVELY use this feature a couple of years ago, because I am a lazy blogger.  It made my life SO easy.

I toggled over to verify my shot – and my first thought was – WHAT THE HELL.

I toggled back – and without moving my camera at all – took another snap and sent it to my hard drive at my normal size. The difference in the look I got was staggering to me.

There has been no edit to these pictures at all, I dropped the URLS into Big Huge Labs for a clean mosaic that would preserve the resolution of each image and the distortion.

Great photographers like Cajsa or Strawberry Singh could probably tell you how to use the direct from Firestorm upload and NOT distort your AV – but it seems to me that the loss of resolution size that is automatic makes it not worth it, at least not for good quality pictures.

As for me, no more direct from Firestorm to Flickr. Mystery solved.
