Shadow Dancing

As you know from my blog, I love playing with projectors and casting shadows. I could not resist including this shot I caught last night while shooting. I had my windlight set to complete darkness and then used two projectors casting white light.

I am wearing the gorgeous draped cocktail dress from Maitreya called Mignon. It reminds me of Project Runway’s Rami Kashoú and how he could drape a gown faster than Scarlett O’Hara could pull down curtains. One of the constant conundrums facing the poor, sleep-deprived contestants on that show is how to balance the conflicting demands of the judges who ding them for showing similar styles time and again while also lambasting them when they aren’t true to themselves. I often wonder why there are not more Santino’s calling them on their contradictory demands. With the 11th season in progress now, I think they should ignore the “you’re repeating yourself” complaints because those that head off into uncharted territory nearly always get auf’ed.

The thing is, designers whose work can be recognized without being named are designers who succeed. Do you really need me to tell you this is Maitreya? Can’t you tell from the verisimilitude of the textures, the smoothness of the lines, the way the quality and beauty is not lost when the mesh is stretched? Can’t you see it in the clarity and quality of the work?

The same can be said for the Gos shoes, particularly now that the skin matching is no longer dependent on the vagaries of our individual ability to match tones. There’s a sleek finished quality to them, smooth and elegant. They feel more a part of the world of fashion than the world of gaming.

I am wearing jewelry that I picked up at last year’s Vintage Fair, the Antiquarian set from Amorous. My hair is the newest release from Vanity Hair and comes in two parts so you can wear it as an undo, or you can add the rigged side pony.

The skin is Sophia – from PXL Creations – which for the moment comes in Olive and Sunkissed. I am eager to see the release of the rest of the skin tones. (That’s a hint, Mr. Hart Larsson!)
