Give to Me Your Leather

I love the sleek, structural design of the Leather & Lace dress from Fanatik for faMESHed this month. It’ beautifully body-conscious, the waist curving in with long darts and the bodice highlighted with horizontal stitching. Every thing about it is sleek. The lace cap sleeves are added to soften it’s minimalist severity. They also provide a reference to the Leather & Lace trope that used to be a surprising combination in fashion. It has now become a fairly common theme ever since the Stevie Nicks song. Give to me your leather, take from me my lace.

I would be happy with a touch script to hide the sleeves because I would love to wear this dress with jackets or sweaters and the shape of the sleeve complicates that. It’s not that I dislike the sleeves, I don’t. I would like more flexibility because this dress could be one of those wardrobe foundation pieces that can adopt all sorts of personalities depending on its accessories. The dress comes in eight colors, though four are exclusive to faMESHed.

Baiastice has released gorgeous over-the-knee boots in both suede and fabric for the new fall collection. I chose the blue because I love how it looks with the nude fabric. The boots have a classic style that will make them a great complement to all sorts of looks. They have been released in ten suede and eight fabric colors. The dress is quite form-fitting, but still works over the boots. However, its snug fit will make some poses and positions break the mesh at the knees, so you need to use an AO that isn’t too restless.

Maxi Gossamer made a great set for faMESHed. The Santa Fe set includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets (not shown) with touch scripts that allow you to choose the string, triangles and circle colors for great variety. I went fairly monochromatic to go with minimalism of the dress. I left the bracelets off because those SLink hands work so well, I didn’t want to create the impression I was hiding edges with bracelets. I did have to rez the necklace in order to click it for the touch script. Sometimes mesh is just so darn hard to click unless you know the exact spot. I didn’t have any trouble clicking the earrings, but the necklace was a bear. It was easier to just rez, click and change the colors and pick it back up.

My updo comes from Truth, a brand new release called Josie. It has the pert sassiness of a Josie, doesn’t it? The skin is from Belleza’s recent release of the Shyla skin. I used one of the tattoo layer lipsticks that came with it for a more subdued lip color, preferring less color with the bright blue shadow on the eyes.
