Vintage is such a flexible word. When you watch the red carpet and a dress is described as vintage Versace or Galliano, it could be as little as two seasons old. In general, though, vintage means clothing that’s 25 years old or older which takes us back to 1987 – the year the Speedo became the most fashionable swimsuit and big, bold graphic shirts over leggings were ubiquitous. So were bright colors and lots of embellisment. This top from Loovus Dzevavor’s clothing label LD Major screamed 80s to me, so I dug out some leather leggings from Peqe and decided to get physical.
My shoes are a bold pink – a very 1987 color. I used a textured projector again, having fun playing with the colors and lights.
For this shoot, I made two projectors, using two different textures for a brighter, bolder combination. The textures came from this photoshop tutorial – Lomo Light Leaks.
Here you can appreciate the bold print on the shirt and the fun updo from MADesigns for Vintage Fair. You can tint your own MADesigns hairbases, but I was lazy and just wore one I knew matched from having worn it before. I have worn Amacci, Truth, Exile and Vanity Hair hairbases with MADDesigns hair without any difficulty finding a good match.
You can also get different lighting effects by changing the windlight. The other pictures were shot in completely black settings with all lighting coming from the projectors. This one is shot in a daytime windlight (from Gogo) for a completely different feeling. You can see the difference in the two raw shots on my profile – uploaded directly from in-world with dark lighting and bright lighting. Since the only way to upload there is direct from Second Life, only raw photos get uploaded to the profile.
The makeup is from Aeva for Vintage Fair, the very dramatic Jaci. I love the highly stylized eye makeup.
