Merry Christmas, Baccara Rhodes

In Oregon, there are all sorts of buildings, streets and villages named after our pioneers. If we did that in Second Life, surely there would be many towns, sims and maybe even an ocean named after today’s guest stylist. Second Life launched on June 23, 2003 and just a little over a month later on July 10th, Bacarra Rhodes rezzed in-world for the first time.  In the book, Second Life: The Official Guide she is even designated The Grid Queen.

When I saw her gorgeous purple ball gown I wanted to shoot at Wanderstill on the Ode sim which reminds me so much of Monet with its lush abundance of flowers. I also used Elysium Elide’s windlight settings to give me that saturated rich purple sky.

Her dress comes from Ivalde where she works. This gown is called Retropolitan and is made with a rich silk charmeuse that hugs her curves before being released in a mermaid skirt bottom. She asked is she could carry a purse and with Gidge’s Takeout pose set from Status, her purse was as easy to accommodate as it was on the eyes.

One of the bonuses of this guest stylist project is discovering new stores, including WTG where this gorgeous jewelry set was manufactured. I love the sort of baroque, vintage feeling. It reminds me of playing in my mom’s jewelry box.

She is wearing dramatic makeup, part of the Belleza Chloe skin line and her hair is an elegant and formal updo from Vanity Hair. It was a pleasure getting to know her a little better as we shot the photos and I hope to a Visitor Center or Orientation Island or something named after this pioneer. She certainly deserves it.

Baccara is the “The Grid Queen”! she has seen every trend in fashion and every update from the Lindens and weathered all of these to continuously evolve. She is connected to the very foundation of what Second Life has become. This is the gift of someone that is truly a visionary and adaptable to grow in an environment that rewards only those who can stay up date to the many challenges of creative excellence.
