Strawberry Pie & Country Chic

MAY30_007

When I saw the new G2 Patched Jeans from WoE, I thought they would look so good with the new Country Chic collection from L’ABel. I just love the synchronicity of Second Life® which dictates that things that work well together come to us around the same time. The actual principle is the Linden Law of Meaningful Coincidence located in the Terms of Service section titled, The Collective Unconscious and Second Life. Look it up!

MAY30_004

Any doubts you may have about Second Life and the Acausal Connecting Principle will be squashed when you consider that at the same time, Gos released these Pimp Your Pumps Buckle Ballet flats. As you can clearly see, synchronicity is the law of the land in Second Life.

Asparagus…. Week 23

I was wandering through the Lazy Sunday list and stumbled upon this cute cute cute skirt at Berries Inc. and I shouted… ASPARAGUS.  Don’t you love when people shout random things when they are shopping?  Well its not quite so random because I’m working on the 52 Weeks of Color Bloggers Challenge and asparagus was the next color I needed.

See more after the cut….

County Chic In Another Country

Neferia Abel recently released her COUNTRY CHIC collection and after I got done drooling over the soft cotton look with eyelet laces, I was determined to find some place different to shoot it.

My love affair with the third party viewers continues to be one of love and hate.

Today’s it’s love.

The magical land of GreenBurg was the perfect place to soar around via dandelion and enjoy the breathtaking vistas and vignettes. Makes me wish I was a GOOD photographer. Continue reading

Not Your Granny's Hairpin Lace

may26_004

Anessa Stine of DCNY is not your granny and this is not what she might cast off her hairpin lace loom, but she certainly has a granny’s old-fashioned attention to detail. If you want to know what I mean look at the prim flap on this dress. The much maligned and frequently cursed prim flap melds near seamlessly into the pattern of the lace – and continues to do so when you shift positions. Now that’s attention to detail. My one crafty hobby is lace-making and hairpin lace is one of the easiest there is to make. I lost interest in hairpin lace quite early because generally it was used for making scarves and shawls. Now, if I had thought to make something like this, I might have stuck with it longer though I am sure my mother would have vetoed such a racy, lacy dress.

I headed over to the Jersey Shore to shoot because I could imagine the Jerseylicious Olivia in this dress. The Jersey Shore is a fun, bright and cheery shopping sim with amusement rides and a candy store straight out of the last century.

It is what it is

may25_006

Today’s blog post title comes from Mouse Mimistrobell of Dark Mouse fame. It works for this post because rather than attempting to explain the surrealist dreamscape that you find at Daytime Dreams where I shot the pictures, sometimes it just makes more sense to say “It is what it is” and simply enjoy the whimsical beauty without seeking any deeper meaning.

I added several pictures from the sim to Sasy Scarborough’s Second Life Stock Images Pool. Sometimes people prefer shooting in a studio and adding the background later. This is a source for great backgrounds from within SL.

Dream Logic

may24_004

My post title comes to you courtesy of Kerryth Tarantal. It’s a good choice because this dress from Sysy’s looks like a dream incarnate. While my family lived in the Northwoods of northern Minnesota, my sister lived in the Red River Valley where it’s so flat you can see the shore of Lake Agassiz from miles away as though it were some huge land formation. There’s even a viewpoint for drivers to pull over and marvel at this 8 foot “cliff” marking the shore. Lake Agassiz would be the largest lake in the world if it still existed – and that flat plain that is its former lakebed created a vast, flat plain of rich farmland. The thing is when an 8 foot lake edge is the most significant land mass for hundreds of miles, people tend to focus on the sky. And the vistas in the sky are amazing – the Northern Lights are definitely the Queen of the Sky Pageant, but Sky Blue Pink is First Runner Up. Sysy somehow managed to create a dress of Sky Blue Pink – that illusive color that we all know but struggle to define. I got the dress at Shoe Fair.

This set was shot at ImagiLearning Lowlands – one of the many gorgeous Imagilearning sims. The sky is a glorious Sky Blue Pink thanks to a windlight setting Gidge made and gave to me. You will have to hit her up for the NC of the setting.

Four Days In a F&CKING Flip Flop Dress

When I opened this dress from She’s So Unusual at the beginning of the week, my first thought was “What a hoot. I’m totally blogging this dress.” I had visions of a beach and a quickie shoot because, it’s a flip flop dress. It’s funny and I hear there is a commercial with a similar dress.

This dress is one of the things I like about SL fashion. You don’t NEED it. My entire RL wardrobe is filled with things I needed. Things which are functional and serviceable. Thus – things like flip flop dresses totally press my buttons in SL. Continue reading

Mother, May I?

may24_032

This blog title was brought to you courtesy of boyo on Plurk. When I asked for blog title ideas last night, I got a few and I am going to use them. Besides, it sort of fits with the intrepid Toonip Bloom I have sent off exploring today. Exploring Second Life is one thing, exploring islands with pirates! is another. But intrepid Toonip is intrepid and heads off without a worry or without asking, “Mother, may I?” Of course, it’s easy to feel intrepid when you’re looking all sweet and wonderful in Neferia’s Abel’s newest collection for L’Abel.

By the way, I am playing hooky to go exploring. You see, there’s a new feed in town and so I decided to lope off and play hooky so I could tell you about it. It’s the SL Style Academy and there are new-to-me bloggers on the feed, which is always a plus. It has a fun conceit and I love that they stick with it in their feed design.

Add the fabulous Coral Frills pump from S@bbia which can be found at the Shoe Fair, and you’re unstoppable. I am using some more of the Bent! poses made specially for the Bloom dolls.
