Birds of a Feather

When I saw the amazing Passage to India dress from Violator, I decided to take the expression “Birds of a feather flock together” to the extreme, adding peacock earrings and hair to the mix. I suppose I could also have added peacock shoes, but a different pair of shoes came to mind. In fact, when I saw the shoes at the Shoe Fair, I said to myself, “Self, now you can finally shoot that wild outfit from Violator!” You see, I finally have shoes wild enough to match the wild energy of the dress.

As you can see the dress not only has the wonderfully wild peacock texture inspired texture, but is ornamented with beautiful plumes exploding with color. It’s a sexy cut with the dangerously high slit up the side, but paired with the relatively modest bodice design – it never approaches vulgar.

The shoes are from 24 Shoo Shoes. I love the wild imagination at work creating these distinctive and unique shoes. I confess when I put the skin tinting hud on I was momentarily taken aback as it’s two huds worth of pretinted color samples. Once I realized I merely had to shift the camera view so the hud overlay my skin and click on the closest match, I realized it was ingeniously simple.

I want to highlight the poses used in this shoot. Whenever I want to shoot a more “editorial” set, I almost always reach for DARE poses. They have an excitement and movement that are unique. With so many posemakers, it’s always wonderful when someone finds a niche that is uniquely their own and serves that market so well.

So, after I had the dress and the shoes, I knew I needed special hair and remembered seeing a picture on Kyrie Source’s photostream of stunning hair, so checking back at her Flickr I saw that I needed to make a trip to Tukinowaguma. That’s so dangerous! Tukinowaguma is so full of unique and exciting and original hair that I always leave staggering under a pile of shopping bags and boxes – so to speak. Still, could there be more perfect hair? I fell in love instantly.

I added the Candy skin from PXL Creations with Cyclamen lipstick for its classic elegance. The earrings are from Muse – one of the many stores that have closed in the last year, making SL poorer for the loss.
