The Most Elegant Shape – The Sheath

There is no more elegant shape than a well-made sheath dress. I have thought this before, but it was never so profoundly drummed into my head as when I saw the incredibly inappropriate butt-shots of Princess Letizia and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy during a recent state visit. It is wrong that this was the photo published around the world from this state visit – and yet it is an eye-catching and beautiful photo. Now what makes it so is not just that they are lovely women, but that they are both wearing sheath dresses that really accentuate their form. And so, to show you what I mean, I chose another incredible sheath dress, this one from Victoria V.

The key to the incredible elegance of the sheath is that it is form-fitting, but not tight. It skims lightly over the shape, not clinging to it. There is a defined waist, but defined through darts, not defined by color or belts or any cinching of the waist – nothing to detract from the curves that the sheath is accentuating. This VictoriaV dress, Abigail, has a lovely print that begins above the waist – deliberately not breaking the flow. The shoes are from Maitreya – and are called Grace.

The button ornamentation at the neckline of the sheat add visual interest. I decided to go with round beaded jewelry in order to echo that embellishment. The jewelry is all from Twinkleberry – a delightful store with imaginative and delicate jewelry. The hair is from Find Ash – a men’s style – but don’t let gender labels keep you from cool hair like this.

The skin is Redbud from the new April2 collection of Curio skins -it is fresh, clean and sping-like and looks lovely with the hair and the dress.

The dress is lovely, the skin is not…makes you look you should be in bed with chicken soup…or in a meth clinic.

Well, Dagny, then you should certainly never get this skin. However, I interpret that ruddy glow as the healthy flush of someone who has gotten out in the fresh air on a brisk April day, perfect for a line of skins inspired by April weather and flowers. I like it a lot and of course, that’s what counts.

Forgive me, Casja…. Feel free to delete my comment if its offensive but I the meth comment made me think of this http://www.facesofmeth.us/main.htm

THATS what meth does to you. Good gravy.

This version of the April skin reminds me of brisk wind when the flowers are just unfolding… Methadone issues would have never crossed my mind. You look lovely Casja, as always 🙂

Wow. Personally I LOVE this skin, even if i prefer Lovely and Vixen, I still bought one perculiar tone: Tulip (yeah with the red eye shades).

Meth user? It’s a bit harsh. And also a bit mean. Having lost a few people to meth myself, I don’t find it really funny. And indeed, they look ravaged and almost like living dead, not blushy rosy as they just went for some fresh air.

I know some people find it brilliant and quirky to make comments like that, but please, just refrain.

Matching up patterns from bottom to top layer can be a huge pain in the butt. This designer did an absolutely superb job of it. I’m jealous.

    You look amazing, Casja.

Gala skins were my first ever in SL and it blows my mind to see how they’ve developed over the last 2 years. Undeniably some of the most beautiful in SL.

PS: Won’t somebody make me Letizia’s shoes from that photograph? *want* 🙂

Thanks everyone. You know, glamorpuss, that was the exact thing I thought when I saw that picture. I want her shoes. I want her dress, too, but those shoes are spectacular.
