Bauhaus

I like all sorts of art and many artists, but for some odd reason my favorites all have last names beginning with K: Klimpt, Klee and Kandinsky. Isn’t that odd? Of course, it’s not odd that someone who loves Klee also loves Kandinsky as they both taught at the Bauhaus, a relatively short-lived art school that had a tremendously positive influence on art and architecture and even product design. So…when I saw the Kandinsky dress from True La La, it was irresistible. It is made of a sleevless tank, prim skirt and socks – all with marvelous Kandinsky print on them. However, I thought that the three pieces of Kandinsky were too much and decided to take a different road for the skirt.

Black Velvet

In my experience, velvet is one of the trickier textures to do well in our pixel clothing, so I am so pleased with the lovely black velvet and brocade dress from Prelude. Like everything from Prelude, it comes in an over-stuffed folder full of options. In this case, you have every possible layer option and choices of the level of sheerness in the bodice as well as the option of wearing a jacket or not.  Sweet! Don’t those Maitreya shoes stir up the hotness factor as well?

posted by Gidge Uriza

I wander through Laqroki every so ofter picking up hair because as we’ve established, I’m not going to be satisfied until I’ve picked up EVERY SINGLE STYLE in the sunkissed color (or whatever the hell number it is, Mallory has gone to a numbering system %&%&%$&!)

I had heard rumblings about a skin sale, so ambled over, no real intent to BUY anything but I do like to keep my eyes open, anyone who fashion blogs would agree a good skin assortment gives you a lot of flex in your abilitly to style. Continue reading

Dreams of Dior

Annalee Balut of ALB Dream Fashion knows nearly every fashionista dreams of wearing a Dior gown or two or three and so has made stunning reproductions of some of Dior’s marvelous spring 2009 couture collection where Dior indulged in the purest romaniticism possible, creating dresses for a modern Trianon. In real life, fashion design is a symbiosis of current and historical trends with imagination and creativity. SL designers are also influenced by RL design and sometimes reproduce or reinterpret particularly iconic RL designs.  You can see recreations of stunning wedding gowns and red carpert Oscar gowns around the grid. Some find this controversial, but I feel that so long as designers openly name their inspiration so said RL designer could easily discover the homage/reproduction and don’t try to hide anything, that it more a tribute to the RL designer than anything else.

Retiring, or Receiving a Guest?

posted by Gidge Uriza

Well…….a LADY wouldn’t tell you, now would she?

I fastidiously collect pajamas, and nightgowns, and robes, and was absolutely delighted to find this special offer at Indigo Blue on the Sxy2nd Sim as part of their grand opening extravaganza. It’s a complete trousseau of lingerie with a dressing gown.

Probably more appropriate for your SECOND SL Marriage……..eh? Continue reading

Where's Gainsborough When You Need Him?

Okay, okay, I know it’s a stretch, but after I put this on I could not resist the comparison. Of course, Blue Boy was all satin and lace and this is suede and corduroy. I know, think of it as working class Blue Boy.  This actually a mash-up that began with the blue dress from AXEL. It had a lovely undershirt and leggings in an array of colors and looked cute, but perhaps because of my mood just did not pop for me. So I started rummaging around in my folders and pulled out these blue suede pants from Baiastice. This is actually the first time I have worn the leg prims. Normally I wear them with boots. I remembered these old Bronte slippers from Adam N Eve which had me rummaging around for white knee socks and a tenuous resemblance to Blue Boy. These are lovely vintage slippers and that little froth of lace just makes me smile.

I Have Come Here to Kick @ss and Chew Bubblegum

posted by Gidge Uriza

And I’m all out of bubblegum.

NAME THAT MOVIE!

Okay so Belle sent me over to check out the boutique of a friend – EDGE DESIGNS and I was really excited to check out the cute offerings inside. The store itself was interesting and although the collection isn’t huge, there were some fun pieces.

The creator,Mrohs showed up while I was there and dropped this unreleased super cute tough girl outfit (I’m thinking THUNDERDOME!) on me that I had to share.

I wanted to completely kick somone’s ass while wearing this. I originally picked this hair up at Damselfly because I thought it was pretty but then I thought it looks messy and tough girl, so paired it with this outfit. Continue reading

Dipping a toe in the water

Okay, this new Candace skin has me putting on shorts. I never wear shorts. It’s just that athletic a skin…you want to get out and about. And yes, that’s prim feet – from SLink – just because I felt like it. Now if I were a conscientious little fashionista I would give you the RGB value for the feet because they match darn well, however, I was lazy and matched it by clicking on the multicolor field in the peachy area and then putzing around in the smaller color field. Still, it was a snap and took only a few minutes – not like something complicated and difficult like putting on a shirt.

And You Come To Me On A Summer Breeze….

posted by Gidge Uriza

I’ve been in a disco mood lately…..

Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave
and it’s me you need to show….
How Deep is your love?
I really need to learn….
Ah it’s us old married people that don’t get these wafting summer romances, but I can still appreciate some Bee Gees. Plus, now my summer loves are for things like new jewelry from Violet Voltaire whom I hear is going out business just as soon as I get around to properly loving her work!
BOOOO! Continue reading

Sundays Are For Exploring & a Photo Tip

Sundays are probably when I spend the most time just playing on the grid, exploring sims and generally just having a lot of fun before heading over to the Velvet for Maht’s DJ session that I know will always be a fun and interesting set. This Sunday’s set featured singers and bands from Chicago – and it was a revelation how much great music comes from the Windy City considering he didn’t play any blues.  I dressed in a hurry for the session, but love the look that came together. Afterwards, I headed out to Sasy Scarborough’s new digs:
