The Best Store Name Ever

Waking up stiff and cold, huddled in the back seat of a rusted out Nash Metro that I pulled over somewhere off the highway outside Las Vegas, I stretched and squinted past my knees wincing at the light bouncing off the white sands of the desert plains. I grabbed my bottle of whiskey to quench my dry mouth and saw I had emptied it in the night and unfortunately for my head, I didn’t spill a drop. A Soweto beat booming in my head from the mix of whiskey, chips and salsa and whatever else I could grab at the Arcade, I crawled out of the car and decided to end this little experiment in Gonzo writing by rezzing the huge box of promotional items from Fear & Clothing – the best named store in Second Life. The first thing I tried on was this Sharkskin Red Striped jacket that I completely fell in love with.

With a deep, dark red and a subtle stripe, this jacket is just so gorgeous and easy to style. Whether you want to dress it up with a frilly blouse and nice tweed pants as I did, or go in a completely different direction like Winter Jefferson did here, the classic style of the Sharkskin jacket lets you do so with style and elan and you can do it without a hangover.

Everyone should have one good, multi-layered frilly blouse and for me, it’s the one from MNK that best meets my needs with all the layer options and a mod ruffle so I could adjust a few individual prims to make it lay perfectly with the jacket. It comes with a cardigan and does not have white cuffs so I borrowed the cuffs from the Dietrich shirt from Lelutka. The Sparkling Waters necklace and earrings in Copper made a happy pairing with the frilliness of the blouse and the styling of the jacket.

The new Breeze makeup from Gala is wonderfully fresh and vibrant.  By the way, Rosie Barthomes also did a nice review of the Fear & Clothing clothes and I think perhaps they are intended for men..but ladies, don’t let that stop you.

A Soweto beat booming in my head from the mix of whiskey, chips and salsa and whatever else I could grab at the Arcade, I crawled out of the car and decided to end this little experiment in Gonzo writing….

The only line I know from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is “We were somewhere around Barstow when the drugs began to take hold….”

    Who knew? Gonzo fashion reporting!

Thanks for your kind words, Casja. I loved the tone of it. Just a note, most things in the shop work for men and women both. Women’s clothes are coming soon. XD

Even though I feel like a little boat drifting in a sea of literary genius I think this was a well written article I really like it.
