The "It" Dress

The bandage dress that Herve Leger sprang on the world back in 1989 remains the ideal dress to highlight the feminine form. Clearly the Cleo dress from Cachet, though vastly different, has its roots in that iconic dress. Like the bandage dress that used the weaving of dyed bandages to create the sexiest, most form-fitting dresses on the runways, the Cleo’s bodice shows the intricate weaving of bandage strips that cling and cling and cling – revealing everything and nothing. To me, it’s the sexiest dress on the grid.

Here you can see the detail banding the low waisted bodice before the skirt begins to gently flair with a perfectly formed skirt of knife pleats.  The skirt is made with three prims for full coverage while walking and dancing. Frankly, these are some of the most intricate skirt prims I have ever seen and the glitch pants were formed to not only cover skin, but ensure a consistent and perfect appearance at all times.

Careful attention to detail elevates this dress far above the norm in quality and in flat-out sex appeal. Note the carefully painted highlighting on the derriere that highlights to derriere and makes it look just perfect. Notice also the banded hem on the skirt that draws it in and controls its flow. See the shadows in the small of the back. This dress was a labor of love and it shows.

People often worry about the side seams. These are flawless.

This is the gray/brown version of the Cleo dress. It also comes in olive, burgundy and funereal black.

The necklace and earrings from Kraftika only enhance the style and elegance of the dress.

Sadly, Herve Leger lost control of his business and even the use of his own name. Max Azria og BCBG owns his name and label and relaunched Herve Leger in the spring. Meanwhile the real Herve Leger has opened a couture salon in Paris under the name Herve Leroux and continues to make dresses that are will make your mouth water. Herve Leger or Herve Leroux – he would love this dress.
